Prekindergarten and Kindergarten Expansion grant program
Research and evaluation studies of prekindergarten programs confirm the value of early education and its positive impact on academic performance, especially for preschool children with limited proficiency in the English language. Effective teaching practices have shown to lead to important growth in children's intellectual and social development and future academic success. TEA currently administers several grant programs that address the needs of prekindergarten students, including the Early Childhood Readiness program and the Prekindergarten and Kindergarten Expansion grant program. The Early Childhood School Readiness program provides funds to school districts, non-profit childcare providers, Head Start providers and other government funded organizations that are implementing the Texas Early Education Model (TEEM) developed by the State Center for Early Childhood Development.
Destiny Child Care Learning Center participates in the Pre Kindergarten and Kindergarten Expansion grant program.
